Yemen Network for Microfinance to Be Set up

Sana'a,Yemen, August, 24 2009 - Social Fund for Development (SFD) and United Nation Development Program (UNDP) have held a meeting here to establish Yemen network for microfinance in Yemen.

The meeting attended by representatives of programs and microfinance institutions in Yemen aimed at announcing this qualitative network and discussing its basic system as well as choosing the members of its board of directors.

Establishing this network comes within executing the national strategy for microfinance aiming at developing this industry.

The network is entrusted to provide the necessity technical assistance and to build the abilities of the microfinance foundations' cadres as well as setting up and supporting a center for exchanging information, experiences, and techniques on this industry.

The goals of the network focus on adopting the best international practices to increase the accountability and good governance in the concerned institutions as well as diversifying the products and services presented in this vital economic sector.
